KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The 20-minute short film Lapata Santan, released last week on OSR Digital’s YouTube channel, is capturing attention for its emotional portrayal of elderly parents’ struggles. Directed, written, and produced by Ramji Gnawali, the film addresses the harsh reality of parents being sent to old age homes in their later years.

Starring Rashmi Bhatta as the mother, the film also features Ojaswi Bikram Bista, Ashish Parajuli, and others. With positive feedback for its realistic depiction of contemporary social issues, Lapata Santan aims to raise awareness about the sacrifices parents make for their children. Gnawali, who transitioned from a journalism career to filmmaking, has previously worked on films like Dark Moon and Aradhya. He is currently developing a new project, Silence Tour, which addresses youth health issues.
