KATHMANDU, Feb 2: The Press Council Nepal (PNC) has recommended action against 54 YouTube channels and five Facebook pages for operating without registration. The PCN has also urged the Cyber Bureau of the Nepal Police to blacklist them and initiate further investigation.
A press statement issued by the PCN’s Information Officer and Deputy Administrative Officer Ram Sharan Bohara on Sunday mentioned that the PCN has removed four media outlets from its blacklisting. Those media include TV Annapurna.com, Yoho Television, Trinetra Post weekly, and Khojtalas Online.com.
Four of the 10 media outlets that were blacklisted since mid-July of the current fiscal year have been removed from the blacklist after apologizing and committing to following the code of conduct and the PNC’s instructions in the coming days, reads the statement.
The statement further said that six media outlets that disobeyed the PNC’s directives including ABP Crime News.com, Setokhari.com, Koshi Post.com, Herdaherdai.com, Diyopost.com and Nepal Katha.com have been blacklisted and further action has been taken.
