KATHMANDU, March 19: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order to halt the Free Students' Union (FSU) election at Tribhuvan University's Central Campus.
On Wednesday, a single bench of Judge Dal Kumar Khadka issued the interim order, according to Information Officer Parbati Hitan. The court has summoned both parties to discuss whether to continue the interim order on Thursday.
The court has further instructed that the status quo be maintained and that the notice published on March 16 not be implemented until then. "Since only one party was present today, the court has called both parties for tomorrow [i.e., Thursday]. After the discussion, the court will decide whether to continue the interim order," Hitan said.
The FSU election at the Central Campus of Tribhuvan University was scheduled for Friday.
The bench has also directed that, if there are grounds, reasons, and evidence against issuing the order, both parties must submit a written response within 15 days.
Bishnu Bahadur Badal, president of the Tribhuvan University Nepal Students' Union (NSU), filed a petition in the Patan High Court, naming Tribhuvan University as the defendant.
