No consensus on state restructuring, forms of governance

KATHMANDU, March 27: The leaders of different political parties have drawn a conclusion that further debates and discussions were required on state restructuring and forms of governance as the issues were sensitive and complex in Nepal.



They reached such conclusion after the meeting of the Constitutional Committee following the discussions on the report of the State Restructuring Committee on Sunday.[break]



Following the meeting, chairman of the Constitutional Committee, Nilambar Acharya, said discussions and deliberations on the disputed issues are underway.



He said the parties are yet to forge consensus on provinces, their rights and names as well.



Leader of the Nepali Congress, Bimalendra Nidhi, said the NC was in favor of forming a Commission on State Restructuring adding that the party believes on forming the provinces on the basis of population, geography, languages and religions.



However, chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, Upendra Yadav said his party was against the formation of the Commission on State Restructuring.
