Nepal International Film Festival from March 20

KATHMANDU March 19: The 8th edition of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) will be held in Kathmandu on April 20-24.

A total of 87 films from 40 countries have been selected for the festival to be hosted by the Nepal Film and Cultural Foundation, informed Festival Chair KP Pathak.

He further shared that the 8th edition of the film exhibition will be organized with the theme of 'Festival of Stories from All Over the World, Nepal International Film Festival'.

"Preparations have been placed in a way to make it more effective than the previous editions," he said, adding, "We have selected the films keeping in mind to attract the movie-loving audience. The festival will very indeed offer a platform for film workers from all over the world to meet, discuss, and exchange film ideas."

He said that 'Russian Film Day' will be organized on Saturday, on the third day of the festival.

The festival has been classified into two categories, national and international.

As informed, the best film in the international category will be provided with the 'Gautam Buddha Award' along with a sum of $ 1,500.

Similarly, a film from the national and international cinema categories will be presented with an award titled 'Don Ki Hote' on behalf of the Federation of International Film Societies.

Under the competition, the best film will receive Rs 100,000 and a trophy, while the best short film and best documentary will get Rs 50,000 each and a trophy.

The best international documentary will receive the Mount Everest Award with 1,000 US dollars, while the best international short film will receive the Bagmati Award with 500 USD.

According to the hosts, the film of AI technology will be provided the 'Manjushree Award' of 500 US dollars.
