Nepal faces second defeat

KATHMANDU, June 17: Nepal faced second defeat in a row against Himachal Pradesh in the 20-over practice to wrap up the series 2-2. Himachal Pradesh defeated Nepal by seven runs on Wednesday at the Dharamsala Cricket Ground in Himachal, India.

Nepal, under closed camp training in Dharamsala, had won first and second practice matches and lost its third match on Tuesday before facing another defeat against Indian side on Wednesday.In the last match, Nepal managed only 143/7 in its chase of 151 run despite double digit figure from five batsmen.

Skipper Paras Khadka, who remained not out, top scored with 36 runs facing 33 balls, while Gyanendra Malla (29 off 29), Rajesh Pulami (23 off 16), Anil Mandal (15 off 26) and Sharad Vesawkar (13 from 9) were other batsmen to reach double figures.

Openers Anil and Gyanendra shared the partnership of 38 runs for the first wicket while Paras and Rajesh also paired for same digit for the fourth wicket.

Shresht Nirmohi and Rahul Singh bagged two wickets each for Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Himachal Pradesh put 150/6 after Abhimanyu Rana remained unbeaten on 67 runs off 60 balls. Amit Kumar added 49 runs to put challenging target against visitors.

Avinash Karn pocketed two wickets, while Jitendra Mukhiya, Pradeep Airee and Basant Regmi claimed one wicket each for Nepal.

Nepal is under closed camp training in Dharamsala for the ICC World Twnety20 Qualifiers and ICC World Cricket League Championship.

According to CAN acting General Secretary Uttam Karmacharya Nepali team will return home on Saturday.
