Nepal Automobiles Association hosts grand welcome and recognition program

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal), a special sports organization listed under the National Sports Council, hosted a grand Appreciation and Welcoming Program in the capital to celebrate Nepal’s growing presence in international motorsports. 

The prestigious event was attended by Minister for Youth & Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary, lawmakers, senior government officials, and key figures from Nepal’s sports and motorsports community. The program, emceed by NASA Nepal Vice President Anil Kumar Baral, began with a flag-off ceremony led by the Chief Guest and other distinguished attendees. 

A major highlight of the event was Nepal’s participation in the 2024 World Motorsports Games in Spain, underscoring the country’s rising stature in global motorsports. NASA Nepal also officially welcomed Dhruva Acharya, the newly appointed Vice President of the National Sports Council, along with other board members. 

The event recognized the exceptional achievements of athletes and officials who have represented Nepal on the world stage, including: Dasarath Risal (President, NASA Nepal), Diprash Shakya (Esports category), Krishna Pd Poudel (Auto-Slalom category), Pragya Kandel (Auto-Slalom category), Yadu Raj Lamichhane (Team Manager), Tika Ram Yatri (Media Delegate).

On this occasion, Diprash Shakya, Secretary of NASA Nepal, donated his rally vehicle to the association to support the development of motorsports in Nepal. The vehicle handover was witnessed by Minister Chaudhary, MPs Yogesh Bhattarai and Udaya Samsher JBR, along with other dignitaries. 

In their speeches, Govinda Bhattarai, FIA World Council Member; Tanka Lal Ghising, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council and MPs  Yogesh Bhattarai and Udaya Samsher JBR, emphasized the growing importance of motorsports in Nepal and the vital role of NASA Nepal in fostering this progress.  The event concluded with a vote of thanks by NASA Nepal President Dasarath Risal, followed by a dinner.
