NADA Auto Show ends

Rs 700m worth of transaction recorded
KATHMANDU, Sept 23
: The eighth edition of NADA Auto Show 2012 concluded in the capital on Sunday recording transaction worth Rs 700 million.

Organizers billed the four-day expo as the most successful in terms of volume of transaction and number of visitors compared to that of previous years. [break]

“We saw the highest-ever transaction in the auto show as significant number of customers were attracted toward expensive cars and bikes,” said Deepak Thapa, expo coordinator.

Organized with the slogan ´Road Safety and Clean and Green City”, the auto show exhibited brand new vehicles made from latest technology by different companies.

“We have decided to organize meeting every month at the Department of Transport Management regarding road safety so as to bring down the cases of road accidents and join hand with the government in mitigating the problem,” said Thapa who is also the general secretary of NADA.

A total of 43 automobile firms including 24 automobile brands from China, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, US, and Nepal had taken part in the event organized by Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and Global Exposition and Management Services (GEMS).

According to Thapa, small cars of 1000 cc to 1200 cc and motorcycles were the major attractions recording the highest sales.



Besides, ´Made in Nepal´ pavilion, photos exhibition and information related to traffic awareness, display of vintage cars and various side events like children amusement park, live music, and auto quiz, among other things were attractions at the event.

Dipesh Shakya, marketing manager at Go automobiles said that they received impressive bookings for Ford Figo and Fiesta during the show. Likewise, Skoda Rapid, Ertiga and new Dzire from Suzuki, Verna from Hyundai, Tata Nano and Nissan Sunny among other models received ´satisfactory´ response from customers.

“We received, bookings for more than 100 cars of which 25 were for the newly launched model Ertiga. As we have launched the scheme for Alto, K10 and Wagon R, we received good booking for these cars too,” said Bishal Shrestha, marketing, sales and strategy manager at CG Automobiles.

Likewise, the stall of various motorcycle companies like Yamaha, Honda, TVS, SYM, Suzuki and Hyosung, also saw huge crowds that were attracted by different offers and discounts.

The show which had a total of 100 stalls of 55 different companies including dealers of different automobile brands, financial institutions, and companies dealing on parts and accessories, among other things saw the footfall of around 50,000 visitors.
