KATHMANDU, March 15: Member of Parliament (MP) Amresh Kumar Singh has accused the leaders of imposing burden of debt on the people for their own comfort and convenience.
"In a democratic system, the people are paramount, but here, the political party leaders in power are imposing the burden of debt on the people for their own benefit," Singh wrote on social media (Facebook) on Saturday morning.
He stated that while ordinary citizens suffer from extreme inflation, taxes and poor governance, the leaders work for their own convenience. "There is no employment in the country, and the youth are forced to wander in foreign streets. Yet, some have even discussed providing lifelong benefits to former officials, which is shameful," he added.
Singh also questioned the contribution of former officials. "What have they contributed? They should face life imprisonment for destroying the nation. They looted while in power, and now they continue to try to loot," he wrote.
The government is currently discussing a law to provide lifelong benefits to former dignitaries, but this has sparked widespread opposition. Even within the ruling party, the Nepali Congress, resistance to this idea has emerged.
