A group of eight CPN-M cadres barged into Paudel´s office Monday afternoon and misbehaved with him.
Police arrested Mukesh Sah, one of the cadres involved while he was returning after committing the offense.
Party´s Bara Secretary Umesh Yadav said that the cadres took the action against the officer in line with the party´s policy.
Speaking at a public function last month, Matrika Yadav had said his party cadres would smear soot on the face of anyone involved in corruption.
The party had taken a similar action against the then chief of the Birgunj customs Kewal Bhandari a few months ago.
