KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Madhesh-centric political parties are set to ‘unite’ once again.
After the two major political parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, initiated discussions on amending the Constitution and the Political Parties Act, eight parties based in Madhesh have come together to reach a consensus on their agendas.
A task force with one member from each party will be formed by Thursday, and the task force will prepare the agenda, said Keshav Jha, leader of the Rastriya Mukti Party.
He stated that Monday's meeting in Kathmandu discussed the agendas, and the upcoming meeting will move forward with a detailed plan. The meeting included Renu Yadav from the Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajwadi Party, Manish Suman from the Upendra Yadav-led JSP (Janata Samajwadi Party)-Nepal, Abdul Khan from the CK Raut-led Janamat Party, and Sarbendra Nath Shukla from the Mahanta Thakur-led Loktantrik Samajwadi Party.
Similarly, Lalbir Chaudhary and Ganga Chaudhary from the Ranjita Chaudhary-led Nagarik Unmukti Party, Keshav Jha and Santosh Mehta from Rajendra Mahato's Rastriya Mukti Party, Hridayesh Tripathi and CP Yadav from the Hridayesh Tripathi-led Janata Pragatisheel Party, and Brishesh Chandra Lal from the Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party participated in the meeting.
Earlier, the first meeting of these parties was held on January 14. Jha mentioned that after forming the task force on Thursday, a meeting involving party chiefs will be held to move forward.
