KATHMANDU: Sunita Lama of Prime won the women´s singles title of the Second Bernhardt Table Tennis Championship on Sunday. Lama defeated her college-mate Norden Tamang 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, 11-7 in the final. [break]
Meanwhile, Debaratna Maharjan and Pukar Upreti of Bernhardt reached the men´s singles final of the event for CSIT students. Maharjan defeated Niraj Upreti of Madan Bhandari College 11-4, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3 and Pukar Upreti beat Nilav Khatiwada 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 in the semifinals.
New Diamond lifts title
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): New Diamond Academy clinched the title of the Second National Open Women´s Volleyball Tournament in Pokhara on Sunday. New Diamond toiled hard to defeat Armed Police Force (APF) Club 14-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 15-12 in the final.
Winner New Diamond received Rs 50,000 while runner-up APF Club got Rs 30,000. Gyanu Baba finished third in the tournament and bagged Rs 20,000. Pratibha Mali of New Diamond was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Ramila Tandukar and Lalita Nath of New Diamond received the awards for best spiker and best quicker respectively. Manju Gurung and Aruna Shahi of Gyanu Baba received the awards for best defense and best serve while Saraswati Chaudhary and Binita Budhathoki of APF took home the awards for best blocker and best setter.
