Lalitpur police claim success on curbing robberies

LALITPUR, March 20: Incidents of robberies, looting and petty thefts have notably controlled after the special campaign against the anti-social elements, claimed the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur. The Range had launched the campaign last year.

Chief of the Range, Rajendra Man Shrestha, said that social crimes like gambling, hooliganism and gender-based violence have drastically decreased after the police launched the campaign.[break]

He said plainclothes women police personnel have been mobilized to check incidents like taunting and harassing women in public transport. Similarly, the police have also stepped up surveillance at different places against the drug abusers.

Shrestha also claimed that compared to other districts, Lalitpur district was relatively peaceful and secure. As per the data provided by the Range, 17 incidents of looting and robberies took place in the district this year as against 31 such incidents last year.
