Friday. The day we keep waiting for from the beginning of the week. The day when, after work, you meet your friends, drop everything that's been bothering you all week and go party! For most of us, this stands true, as we expect nothing less of a miracle to take us far away from the pressure of the week by doing crazy things during the weekend.

Here, we talked to five people from different fields about their weekend culture that makes them stress-free for the coming week.

I go to spas every now and then. Besides that, I go for movies and travel to the outskirts of the Valley with my friends or family. Lately, however, my idea of cooling down after a hectic week is staying at home with possibly a good book. I like reading autobiographies of different people, and have even started reading Nepali literature seriously. There was a time when, in the name of weekend, I would go to parties, hop from one place to another. But no more. One memorable event that I remember talking about de-stressing: my friends took me for cycling around the Godawari. While returning, however, I had a hard time because my seat was faulty. So instead of being a stress-free outing, it ended up being a painful affair. It's funny, though.

I don't always get a weekend off as my work is very demanding. However, when I do, I go to spas, spend time with family, and even go out with my colleagues. When I meet them outside work, it's different. So we try to have as much fun as possible. Just a couple of weeks ago, I went to Banthali Resort with my colleagues. We didn't exactly know where the place was. We got lost, and like it usually goes, it was starting to get dark. We called the people at the resort, and after four hours of dawdling, we reached the place. It was very exciting and almost a mini adventure, exactly what one needs to for a no-stress weekend!

I spend time with my group of friends almost every weekend, who I consider as great stress relievers. During Saturdays, we take our bikes, and go to different places like Kakani, Melamchi, Nagarkot, and if we can, we even try to spend the night there. We have a lot of fun riding. Because I work in a school, I, along with my colleagues, sometimes, take the kids for a school tour. I end up having a great time with them. We share a lot of things and I discover a new side of the people I go with. These days, though, my friends and I go to play Futsal around different Futsal stations in the Valley. It's a fun sport, and I've taken a great liking for it.

The idea of de-stressing for the weekend is as alien of an idea to me, as an alien itself. I look after a shop in Boudha, and I spend my time there all seven days of the week. I instead make sure that I'm not stressed at all. This I do by fulfilling my responsibilities on time, and by not keeping any pending works. Because I have to deal with different kinds of people all the time and you never know how they are, I try to be as soft-spoken with them as possible. It helps a lot in my line of work, as it makes the business go smoothly, and I won't have anything to worry about. But if, sometime, I really need to blow off some steam, I call my college friends and we go out to different places, eat, and make merry.

As far as de-stressing is concerned, I practice yoga almost every day, which helps me a lot to deal with the daily work pressure and unwanted negativity. However, meeting my family, especially my mother, during the weekend keeps me happy for the rest of the week. We talk and share what happened during the week, and her advices help me make important decisions, which takes off a lot of pressure from me. Besides that, if my schedule allows it, I even make plans to go to different places with my friends. I switch my mobile phone off, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and just let things go.
