KATHMANDU, July 17: Kailali District Badminton Association handed over Rs 6 lakhs to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund on Friday. The district-based association had started to collect donations following the devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 on April 25.
Different badminton clubs based in the United States of America contributed a total of US$ 6,376 to Kailali's campaign.
National-level badminton tournament kicks off in Banke
The association's general secretary and national team coach Megh Raj Kathayat and Kailali's badminton President Mahesh Shahi handed a check to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
Kailali received US$ 3,475 from Boston Badminton Club, US$ 2,210 from Maugus Club and US$ 675 from Marblehead Youth Badminton Club. According to Kathayat, Nepal's former badminton player Pashupati Paneru, who has been living in Boston, helped raise the amount for earthquake victims.
