KATHMANDU, June 30: International Cricket Council (ICC) will formally take over the regional development activities being implemented by the Asian Cricket Council (ICC), the apex cricket governing body of Asia, from Wednesday.

ICC, the global cricket governing body, on April 17 had made such announcement.

The meeting of the ICC and ACC meeting held in Dubai in April took the decision to change the cricket development structure in Asia. The ACC, currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will be managed by the ICC based in Dubai from July 1. Several of the ACC Development staff will now take up roles with the ICC, according a press statement of the ICC issued on April 17.

The step means that most of the responsibilities of the regional cricket governing body will directly be taken over by the ICC from Wednesday.

However, the ACC will continue hosting Asia Cup with the next edition set to take place in 2016, and subsequent editions in 2018, 2020 and 2022, ICC had confirmed through the press statement.
