Former Justice Pradhan dies

KATHMANDU, June 2: Former Justice Hiranyashwar Man Pradhan died on Tuesday at the age of 88. Pradhan, of Bhagawan Bahal, Kathmandu had served as Supreme Court justice since July 10, 1986 to November 9, 1990.

Pradhan had served at the Supreme Court as an acting registrar in 1960 and as an officiating registrar in 1962.

Pradhan was later appointed member of Judicial Council on February 4, 1999 and he remained in the post for three years. The full court meeting of the Supreme Court on Tuesday extended condolence on the demise of Justice Pradhan.

"His contribution as a former member of the Judicial Council, efficient justice and administrator as well as an advocate of rule of law and judicial independence would be always remembered," stated a press release issued by the Supreme Court.
