Deuba and Khadka file petition to halt NC General Convention, hearing set for Sept 11

Former Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka have separately filed petitions at the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to halt the party’s 15th General Convention process.

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Former Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka have separately filed petitions at the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to halt the party’s 15th General Convention process.



The petitions were registered on Monday, with NC leader Dipak Khadka filing on behalf of Deuba and advocate Shrawan Kumar filing on behalf of Khadka.

The SC has scheduled a hearing on the petitions for September 11.


Earlier, the SC had granted permission to review its decision in the dispute surrounding the Nepali Congress’ special general convention.


Despite the matter remaining under consideration at the SC, the NC has been preparing to hold its general convention from October 2 to 5.
