KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Departmental teams dominated the opening day of the Fifth Men’s and Fourth Women’s National Beach Volleyball Tournament that kicked off in Itahari on Wednesday.
The pair of Mahendra Shrestha and Suresh Chaudhary of Armed Police Force (APF) Club recorded 21-11, 21-15 win over the pair of Nabin Rijal and Suraj Chaudhary of Eastern Region.
Similarly, the pair of Harihar Thapa and Man Bahadur Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club defeated the pair of Rajendra Sharma and Daman KC of Central Region by 21-19, 21-3, while the pair of Gyaneshwar Adhikari and Bharat Bhandari of Army thrashed the pair of Kushal Karki and Govinda Prajuli of Eastern Region by 21-14, 18-21, 21-15.In the women’s section, the pair of Binita Budhathoki and Reshma Bhandari of APF beat the pair of Sangita Tamang and Jharana Shrestha of Eastern Region 21-8, 21-8, while Saraswati Chaudhary and Nebika Chaudhary of APF thrashed the pair of Pujana Rai and Nilima Aungdembe of Eastern Region by 21-8, 21-2.
Likewise, the pair of Manju Gurung and Aruna Shahi of Western Region produced a 21-11, 21-10 win over the pair of Srijan Rai and Gita Dangi of Army.
