KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Operator of Ahead International Education Pvt Ltd has been arrested for allegedly duping millions of rupees from Nepalese students by sending them to different colleges in Chile with the promise to transfer them to the USA, Canada and other European countries. The operator had lured the students by assuring them of part-time jobs there.
Responding to the complaints received via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal, a squad of Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku, raided the consultancy and arrested the operator Niraj Rai, 29, from New Baneshwar-10 on Tuesday. More than 20 cheated students had filed complaints against the consultancy at the Nepali Embassy in Brazil few weeks ago.
“Rai had sent 42 students to Chile and guaranteed a transfer to colleges of the USA, Canada and European countries,” said Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division. Police has seized some illegally documents from the Baneshwar-based consultancy. The division has sent the arrested to the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu for further investigation.
