KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Nirmal Limbu is a Senior Web Developer at Itonics Nepal in Anamnagar. He has been in the company for almost three years now. The 28-year-old has a degree in Bachelor's in Information Technology from Himalayan White House College.
Nirmal works with the belief that 'perfection is a lot of little things done right.' He says, "This is what pushes me to do new things and keep improving on my work."
What are some of your job responsibilities? The underlying elements of our products are foresight management and data mining. Most of my time is spent on the development of our four softwares and maintaining the stability of the process. I also actively participate in mentoring new individuals to the company.
And what kind of challenges crop up in your work?
Our client base is very large and we work with renowned names in global market like Intel, World Economic Forum (WEF), Siemens, etc. Every project brings different challenges as we provide a large set of customization within our products so that every client feels attached to the software. The challenge lies in meeting all the requirements of our clients. We have to do a lot of research to check the feasibility of their needs.
What do you enjoy the most about your work?
I enjoy learning new technologies and finding a way to use it into our softwares. Whenever I'm free, I look up what the good developers are up to at the moment and learn from them. I follow them in YouTube and Google Plus where they have the latest on their works for everyone to learn from. It's from there that I learnt and developed a browser plug-in that we use in our software now.
I'm also reading up on mobile app development. We outsource our mobile app development to another company and I'm the one in charge of this project, so I like to be familiar with it. I hope I find the time to develop some apps of my own some day.
What do you think are the most important skills to have in your line of work?
As we usually deal with software development, a good foundation on basic programming language is a must. What also helps is basic communication skills and positive attitude.
Would you share your future plans with us?
I'd like to start my own company one day. Everything I'm doing and learning today is with the future in mind. I learnt about website designing from my earlier job, and then I'm learning about mobile applications and more with the company now. I hope to create different softwares that will be useful for Nepal.
