GAURIGUNJ, June 19: The concrete bridge over the Geuriya Khola (river), linking Gauradaha- 1 and Lakhanpur- 5 of Jhapa has collapsed due to continued rains for the past few days.

More than 200 students and locals are facing problems after movement was stopped after the collapse of the bridge. The bridge linking people of Ward No. 3 and 4 of Topgachhi with Lakhanpur was constructed a decade ago.[break]

The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs. 80,000 of the VDC and additional Rs. 100,000 of the locals, said a local businessman Yubakumar Acharya.

He said the reconstruction will be easy if also Topgachhi and Lakhanpur VDCs cooperate with the Gauradaha VDC.

Locals have demanded to include it in the national plan to get rid of repairing it time and again.
