The third grader at the Lotus Eye English Boarding School had gone out to play holi with his friends, according to father Rana Bhadur. Eyewitnesses claimed the boy was hit around 400 meters away from his home and the driver, later identified as Bam Bahadur Budhathoki of Sahajpur, fled after pulling him into the jeep.
“I saw the driver trying to put Naresh into the jeep. I insisted on taking the boy to the hospital but he didn´t allow me to get into the jeep, and sped away,” Gyan Budha, the victim´s 16-year-old neighbor, said.
The jeep headed towards Dhangadi, and the boy was found tied inside an hour later near Campus Road, Dhangadi. Superintendent of Police (SP) Prem Chand said police are investigating the reason for tying the boy.
“Accidents can happen, but it was not just an accident. He was pulled into the jeep and murdered and then tied with a rope,” said an enraged uncle of the victim Shankar Khadka and demanded that the vehicle owner be apprehended until the driver was arrested.
Two killed in fire
KATHMANDU: Two persons were killed in a massive fire at a private house at Makhhangalli on Saturday night. The deceased are Rajesh Shrestha, 35, and Mahesh Shrestha, 22, sons of Kedar Shrestha.
According to police, the fire had broken out on the fourth floor of Shrestha´s house due to a short circuit at around 11:30 pm. Fire brigades of Nepal Police, Nepal Army doused the fire.
Masked men kill woman
SIRAHA: An unidentified group killed 55-year-old Jagati Devi Sah at her residence in Badaharamal-3, Siraha, in the wee hours on Sunday.
A group of around ten masked men attacked Jagati Devi while she was asleep with her daughter-in-law, according to the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya. Indu Devi, the daughter-in-law told police that the men locked her up in another room and killed Jagati Devi.
Inspector Basudev Khatiwada said the reason behind the murder remains unknown.
One killed, three injured in accident
PALPA: A man died while three were injured after the tractor (Lu 1 Ta 9512) they were traveling in veered off the road and plunged 150 meters below at Pelakot-9 of Syangja district Sunday.
Hem Singh Gurung, 53, of Sirsekot-3, was dead, police said. The injured have been taken to Lumbini Medical College for treatment.
