KATHMANDU, April 29: Nepal confirmed a total of 35 deaths linked with the novel coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, Nepal’s COVID-19 death tally has surged to 3,246 since the first fatality was reported on May 16 last year.
Meanwhile, as many as 4,928 more people tested positive for the new variant of the virus on Thursday --- 4,831 through RT-PCR and 97 others through antigen tests. A total of 13,560 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, according to the health ministry.
Rupandehi, another COVID-19 hotspot
Officials confirmed as many as 528 new cases in Rupandehi district in south-western Nepal. Similarly, Banke district also reported a scary number of 489 COVID-19 cases. The Kathmandu Valley, on the other hand, added 1,561 new infections on Thursday.
