Melamchi's Rs 51 billion investment at risk

KATHMANDU, August 3: About 51 billion rupees investment in the Melamchi Drinking Water Project is at risk due to floods and landslides in the Melamchi river basin. The upper part of the headworks of the Ambathan-based project has been damaged due to continuous floods and landslides.

SC orders halt in excavation of riverine substances

KATHMANDU, August 3: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to not excavate stones and ballast from the river against the law across the country. A single bench of Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai has issued an interim order to stop the uncontrolled exploitation of riverine substances in various rivers of the seven provinces.

KATHMANDU, August 1: The Nepalese equities’ benchmark opened the day in green and traded close to 3,100 in the morning on the Sunday. However, stocks gave up its morning gains to trade around the opening level at mid-day. After lackluster trading in the afternoon, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended with a 1.26 point’s gain at 3,081.07.
