Leveraging the positive surge in tourist arrivals

A total of 79,100 foreign tourists came to Nepal in the first month of 2024. According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), this is 24,026 more than the number of foreign tourists visiting Nepal in the same month last year. The government has already announced plans to double the number of tourists this year compared to last year.

Nepal has consistently remained in the bottom half of the list of countries where corruption is rampant. This is evident from the latest Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released by Transparency International (TI) on Tuesday. The CPI shows that efforts taken so far to control corruption in Nepal have failed to yield any substantial result.

What is troublesome is that this problem appears only getting worse from bad as they seem to perceive each other as enemies rather than friends to ensure smooth functioning of the airport. The effects of this animosity has not only been seen on those who fly abroad through the airport, but also on the reputation of the entire country.
