Tai Chi isn’t a commonly known form of martial arts that is practiced to build confidence, stamina, and physical strength. Instead, it is one of the oldest Chinese discipline that is believed to have originated way earlier than the principles of yoga. This form of martial arts is practiced for defense training and various health benefits and it comprises of slow, mindful, meditative patterns and full-body energy that comes from standing postures and movements. Despite all that, it’s never been very popular. However, that didn’t stop Nima Syangdo Lama from taking it up. He has been learning Tai Chi for years now and currently even teaches this martial art form to those seriously interested in learning it.

It was while waiting for my father, who was recovering from a bout of pneumonia in the hospital that the thought struck me. Here I was at 2:00 am, unable to sleep, always on edge, waiting to hear if I would be summoned by someone for this or that requirement – all while my father was not only out of danger but well on his way to recuperating. The fact that I was simply fulfilling my filial duties did not detract from the futility of all this waiting.

Donald Trump and his shenanigans, the hike in the price of petrol, once again; the maid showing up an hour late to work and being unapologetic about it; my dog peeing on the carpet; the layer of dust on the study table barely an hour after I cleaned it; someone parking right in front of my main door and thus locking me in; bikes splashing dirt on my freshly washed and ironed shirt; people spitting out of their car windows; my husband putting his dirty feet up on the table; people calling after work hours with work related queries, – there’s a lot that makes me angry.

Few things are more exciting than traveling internationally. When going abroad, you get to experience all the beautiful cultures that make up our world. Many people are wary of international travel, however, fearing that it is dangerous.
