TAPLEJUNG, March 2: Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality in Taplejung will provide Rs 60,000 to each disaster-affected families.
It will also distribute emergency supplies to families who lost essential daily-use items due to disasters. The municipality announced that it will provide corrugated sheets worth Rs 60,000 to Yubaraj Tamang's family who lost their home in a fire. They are from Ward No 2 of Thechamba.
Municipality Chairperson Keshar Kumar Subba brought emergency relief and consoled the families who lost their homes in the fire. He assured them that the municipality would immediately provide corrugated sheets.
"Use labor contribution to start the house construction process. We will provide corrugated sheets from the municipality," Chairperson Subba told the fire-affected Tamang family.
The municipality has also distributed emergency relief to the fire-affected families. Municipality Chairperson Subba stated that it has legally allocated Rs 60,000 per household to help resettle families who lost their homes in disasters.
"Some disaster-affected families delay rebuilding their homes and later request funds," Chairperson Subba said. "If families who lost their homes in disasters begin their resettlement process immediately, we will provide Rs 60,000 from the municipality."
Bibek Basnet, spokesperson and information officer at the Taplejung District Police Office, stated that the fire destroyed Tamang's house, which was made of stone, mud, bamboo, and plaster, resulting in an estimated loss of around Rs 230,000.
The police suspect an electrical short circuit caused the fire.
