UML plans tourism promotion campaign

KATHMANDU, June 22: The CPN-UML has planned a tourism promotion campaign to dispel misleading information that Nepal's tourism sector has been devastated by recent earthquakes.

The party has decided to organize various functions at major heritage sites with participation of UML's top leaders on Tuesday in a bid to send a message that historical and archeological sites in Nepal are safe for visit."The party chair KP Sharma Oli will lead the team mobilized at Basantapur-Thamel section in Kathmandu," said a statement issued by Surya Thapa, deputy chief of the party's publicity department. Other senior leaders Jhalanath Khanal, Bamdev Gautam and Ishwar Pokharel, among others, will join the same team.

Former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal is to lead the team in Janakpur and Bishnu Paudel will lead the team in Lumbini, Prithivi Subba Gurung in Pokhara, Shankar Pokharel in Swargadwari, Pyuthan, Surendra Pandey in Chitwan, Ganesh Timalsina in Mustang, Jagannath Khatiwada in Khotang and Kishor Adhikari in Lukla.

The party has coined various slogans such as "Safe Nepal: Visit Nepal", "Nepal is safe for Tourism" and "We welcome all foreign guests in Nepal".
