KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Police arrested two men after they attacked a head constable with khukuri (machete) at Padampokhari Police Post in Makwanpur district Sunday night, according to TV channels.

Head constable Awadhesh Jha has been seriously injured in the attack and currently undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.

"The doctor attending on him is saying that he (Jha) may have to be taken to Kathmandu for treatment, said Makwanpur Superintendent of Police Keshari Raj Ghimire to myrepublica.com over phone.

SP Ghimire said the men – Santa Lal Lama and Bishwa Lama – were drunk at the time of attacking Jha. They are from the neighboring village and are currently under police custody. "We are investigating the motive behind the attack, though it appears it was not pre-planned," he said.
