Giri himself fell from the cliff after pushing them. Giri and constable Dhami of Shankapur-3 in Darchula district, died from the fall.

The constables had been sent from a police post to maintain order after receiving information that Giri was creating a scene at a local temple under the influence of alcohol.

The constables were taking Giri to Kotbhairab Health Post for testing alcohol content in his blood when he pushed the two from the cliff, Bajhang District Police Office said.

Giri lost balance after pushing them and fell as well. Giri and Dhami fell 500 meters below the cliff, while Bhatta survived by hanging on to a rock outcrop. He is receiving treatment at local health post.

The Tudemandu village is located nine miles from Chainpur, the district headquarter.
