MUSTANG, April 19: The number of devotees has declined after the track to reach the Damodarkunda is run down.

It takes six day's walk from the district headquarters to reach Damodarkunda, a famous religious place, located at Surkhang VDC.

The path stretching from Ghara to Damodarkunda is very dilapidated that it has caused decline in the number of tourists visiting the shrine, said a local Phurba Gurung.

From Ghara, it is almost two day's walk to reach the holy place. "Although many people have entered the district to visit the holy places, they are unable to follow the track.

Repair of the path from the local level is not possible now, Gurung said, adding that although the District Development Committee was requested for assistance, it was yet to heed the request.

The Damodarkunda is visited mostly from Baisakh to Bhadra of Nepali month.

There is no settlement beyond Ghara, so the devotees themselves must manage the food and shelter before reaching the destination.

Gurung pointed out the urgent need to repair the path with some resting places, and dharmashalas RSS
