Three more missing in Kaski landslide

POKHARA, Aug 4: Three more persons have been missing after a rain-triggered landslide hit Sildjure, Kaski on Tuesday.

Staffer at the Sildjure Village Development Committee (VDC) Surya Bahadur Pandey said Ash Bahadur Gurung, 55, Gaurithar, Mauda Singh Gurung, 45, and Gaumaya Gurung, 45, of Parche VDC have also been missing in the landslide. [break]

Earlier, only two students of Dudhpokhari Secondary School Arjun Baral and Khimlal Giri were known to have been missing in the landslide.

Teacher Sanjay Baral and students Shanti Baral, Sunil Gurung, Shree Jung Gurung and Mauja Singh Gurung were injured in the landslide while heading for the school while porter Bhim Prasad Pandey was caught in the landslide while heading for Sikles from Pokhara with goods.

Shanti has been taken to Pokhara for treatment while the rest are receiving treatment at the Ghyabrung health post in Namarjung.

The trio from Gaurithar was going to Pokhara, according to Pandey.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kaski Shambhu Koirala confirmed the missing of five persons in the landslide and said teams of police, army and Armed Police Force have been sent to the incident site to search for the victims.
