BANEPA, Aug 4: The land owned by Patanjali Yoga Peeth (PYP), founded by Indian yoga guru Swami Ramdev, and Ayurved Nepal Company, in Kavre district has been found to have been sold by Nepal chief of PYP Shaligram Singh without consultation with other stakeholders.

Singh was authorized to just obtain the permanent pan number by the company but he sold the 243 ropanis of its land to individuals without consent of Indian stakeholders Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Mahantha Rajendra Das and Rajendra Singh. [break]

“We couldn´t be strict about other documents after the cabinet decision. We allowed them to sell the land on condition of informing us about buying land in other area as per the cabinet decision,” spokesperson at the Land Revenues Office Bed Prasad Aryal said.

The government had waived the land ceiling on condition that PYP would not sell its land.

During Swami Ramdev´s latest visit to Nepal, however, the government had reversed its condition and allowed PYP to sell its land on condition of utilizing the money so acquired for buying land elsewhere within five years. Singh had sold the land to seven individuals on July 6 as per the government decision.

The buyers of land sold in Sanga and Mahendrajyoti village development committees (VDC) are close friends of Singh with as few even involved in PYP as his associates.
