KATHMANDU, March 18: The reconstruction work of the BP Highway, which was damaged by floods in mid-September last year, is progressing rapidly. On Tuesday, the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur, called for bids for the second phase of the project.
Earlier last week, the Road Division Office, Sindhuli, had issued the contract for the Sindhuli section. This time, the bid has been invited for the second phase of the reconstruction in the Kavre section, which is approximately 8 kilometers long. This section spans from Dallabesi to Charsyabesi.
The division has allocated a budget of Rs 2.5 billion for this project. Construction companies applying for the contract must submit a security deposit of over Rs 65 million. Only the contracts for two more sections remain to be issued. One of these sections is still on the waiting list to be assigned to Japan for construction.
The deadline for submitting applications has been set at 30 days. After that, technical and financial evaluations will be conducted, and the contract agreement is expected to be finalized within approximately two and a half months. The project duration is set for two years. The government has secured a budget of Rs 8.5 billion for the construction of all sections.
