Recipe of Chukauni

One of the popular salad made in the western region of Nepal, especially in Palpa district, Chukauni is a spicy salad where potato is dressed with sour yogurt.

 

Ingredients

 

  1. Onion chopped
  2. Green chili
  3. Lemon - 2
  4. Plain yogurt - 200 ml
  5. Sesame seeds powder- 1 tbsp
  6. Cumin powder- 1 tsp
  7. Chili powder- 1⁄2 tsp
  8. Salt
  9. Potato boiled and cubed - 400 Gms
  10. Mustard oil- 2 tbsp
  11. Fenugreek seeds- 1 tsp
  12. Turmeric- 1⁄2 tsp
  13. Asafetida
  14. red chili

 

Preparation Method

 

1. Add potato, onion, sesame seed powder, yogurt, green and powered chili and cumin in a bowl.

2. Combine all the ingredients together and set aside.

3. Heat the oil in a small frying pan.

4. Pop fenugreek seeds in the oil until cracked; add dry chili, turmeric and asafetida.

5. Garnish it over the potato mixture, stir well and serve cold.
