KATHMANDU, Jan 29: President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that pursuing development and prosperity is the best way to pay tributes to all martyrs.
In a Martyrs’ Day message, President Paudel said that achieving sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity through the federal democratic republic is the best tribute to the fallen martyrs.
He further stated that Martyrs’ Day would inspire everyone to better fulfill their roles in achieving the martyrs’ aspirations and honoring their sacrifices.
"On the occasion of Martyrs Day, 2081 BS, I extend my heartfelt tribute to all the known and unknown martyrs, including the great martyrs Shukraraj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha, who gave their valuable lives for establishing civic freedom and democracy and for protection of nationality," he said.
President Paudel noted that Martyrs Day is a day of special remembrance of the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The day is observed every year on Magh 16 in memory of the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives in the democratic revolution and democratic people's movement against the Rana oligarchy, the Panchayat system, and monarchy to make the Nepali people sovereign citizens.
"Sacrificing one's precious life for the welfare of the people and the nation is martyrdom. May this day inspire and encourage all the political parties, the general public, and all concerned to dedicate their hearts, words, and deeds to realize the aspirations of the martyrs who have attained martyrdom for the independence of the nation and the Nepali people," the President said in his message.
Vice President's message
On the occasion, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav said that the valour of martyrs is the inspiration for all for building a prosperous nation.
The Vice President stated this in a message of best wishes he gave on the occasion of Martyrs Day today.
The Vice President said the courage of the martyrs was an inspiration for all to build a socially and economically firm, strong, and developed country along with a self-reliant economy.
He also paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, inclusiveness, ending all forms of discrimination, and establishing a federal democratic republic.
On the occasion of Martyrs Day, Vice President Yadav has called upon all to work together for the progress, development, and prosperity of the country by further consolidating and strengthening the spirit of unity by embracing the ideals and values of the martyrs.
