KAPILVASTU, Oct 19: Plastic pots and electric lights have affected the means of earning to the people who have been survived by making traditional earthen pots.
Kohar community which play with mud most of the hours in Kapilvastu district are worried when they could not get good market for their products, said Bindeswori Kohar. [break]
Traditional craftsmen from Kohar communities complained that their business was hit hard by the rampant use of plasticware.
"I used to earn Rs10, 000 during Tihar five years ago but now I make hardly Rs 5,000," said Kohar. "Though plastic pots are harmful and result pollution in the community, people have prioritized the use of plastic pots as they are cheaper, lasting and easy to handle."
People of the community are forced to think of alternative means of thier livelihood after their traditional profession was hit hard due to maximum use of plastic materials.
