PABSON to disobey 'Institutional School Criteria and Operation Directives'

KATHMANDU, March 11: The Private and Boarding Schools´ Organization, Nepal (PABSON) has said that it will not follow the "Institutional School Criteria and Operation Directives - 2069 BS".

At a news conference organised by PABSON here today, it said it will disobey the Directives issued by the government until it was made school-friendly with amendment.The Ministry of Education on February 22 had formulated the Directives. [break]

The PABSON demanded that amendment be made on the Directives saying its recommendations were not included in the Directives. PABSON has urged its member schools not to obey the Directives saying the Directives were not in favour of boarding schools.

There are around 10,000 boarding schools under the PABSON.As per the directives, there is a provision that there shall be at least 22 students in a classroom, the school should provide 45 per cent scholarships, two doors at a classroom, among others.

On the occasion, Chairman of the PABSON, Dr. Baburam Pokhrel said that they will disobey the Directives, brought to discourage and undermine the contribution made by PABSON in educational sector, until amendment on it.

Similarly, advisor duo Umesh Shrestha and Rajesh Khadka said that they are ready to implement the Directives if suggestions given by PABSON are included in it.
