KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) will be getting Non-Resident Nepali Citizenship after promulgation of the new constitution.

The Constituent Assembly (CA) on Monday endorsed Article 14 of the constitutional bill that has provision regarding citizenship to NRNs.

However, they won’t be entitled with political and constitutional rights and it restricts Nepalis residing in SAARC nations from obtaining citizenship.

Meanwhile, the CA declined amendment proposal registered by lawmaker Ram Kumar Rai of Rastriya Khumbuwan Party on granting citizenship to Nepalis deployed in British Army who have relinquished Nepali citizenship.
