NPC lift volleyball trophy

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Nepal Police Club (NPC) lifted the trophy of First National League Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday. NPC defeated Armed Police Force (APF) Club under the last match of the super league round three sets to one. [break]



NPC beat APF 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20 in the match held at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall to clinch the title. With the win NPC bagged a purse of Rs 80,000, while the runners up APF had to satisfy themselves with Rs 40,000. The second runners up Employment Creation Service Club received Rs 20,000 and the fourth position holder Peoples Liberation Sports Club bagged Rs 10,000 along with medals, trophies and certificates.



The top three teams under women´s category--NPC, Western Region and Eastern Region each received a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.







Chuda Khadka and Imm Rana of the NPC were adjudged the most valuable woman and man players of the tournament respectively. The best spiker title went to Ramila Shrestha of Central Region under women´s category and Kailashdutta Bhatta of the APF got the best spiker award. Similarly, Kopila Uprety and Sanjay Aryal of Eastern Region were declared the best blocker. The best setter title went to Binita Budhathoki of Eastern Region and Ram Shankhar Chaudhary of NPC.



Manti Ale and Bivek Rai of Western Region got the best defense award while Kaushila Khatri and Sudesh Rimal of NPC clinched the best coach award.



The winner and the runner up teams were provided with the trophies, certificates and medals by Nepal Olympic Committee president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, APF AIGP Thakur Mohan Shrestha, among others.
