The benchmark index has been continuously falling down for the last two weeks due to waning investors´ confidence in the absence of concrete government measures to revive the sole capital market of the country. [break]
All trading groups but hydropower lost their sub-indices on Monday. Banking group and Development Bank groups shed 7.85 points and 7.48 points to close at 419.85 and 470.9 points respectively.
Likewise, Finance and Insurance groups saw their sub-indices dip by 1.11 points and 1.31 points to settle at 456.98 points and 564.95 points respectively. Hydropower sub-index marginally gained 0.45 points to close at 716.98 points.
Total turnover on the day dropped to Rs 19.09 million from Rs 31.65 recorded a day earlier. Total market capitalization - total worth of listed shares - also went down to Rs 351.61 billion from Rs 355.74 billion recorded on Sunday.
