BHAKTAPUR,July 9: Prep Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of Nepal Bar Association dismissed the need for a constitutional court.
Speaking at an interaction program in Bhaktapur, on Saturday, he said that the proposal for setting up a constitutional court which will overshadow the Supreme Court (SC) will not benefit the country and its people. [break]
He further argued that delay and contradictory verdicts from SC in constitutional issues which tends to become very expensive is indeed a problem but forming a constitutional court does not ensure its transparency, freedom and it being free from corruption, rather the country should focus on strengthening the legal provisions he concluded.
