MEPs wrap up visit

KATHMANDU, May 29: The nine-member delegation of the European Parliament for Relations with South Asia wrapped up its seven-day visit to Nepal on Saturday.



The team led by Ms Jean Lambert (Greens/UK) called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, CA Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and representatives of various political parties as well as civil society representatives during their stay here.



According to a press statement, the delegation also flew to the Himalayan region (Imja Glacier) in order to observe negative effects of climate change.



The Members of European Parliament (MEP) also held interaction with senior journalists, researchers, government representatives including the Minister for Environment on the overall impact of global warming in Nepal.



The MEP also participated in an interaction with CA members, exchanging views on Nepal´s ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability and to advance the democratization process.
