Man electrocuted in Jhapa

BHADRAPUR, Aug 25: One person died while trying to fish in the local river using current.



The deceased has been identified as Bishnu Birj,45, of Arjundhara VDC-4 in Jhapa district, according to the District Police Office.[break]



He was fishing at the local Barhadashi river but fell unconscious after coming in contact with the electric power that he had used to catch fish in the river water. Locals rushed him to the nearby health centre but he died in course of treatment last Saturday, according to police.



Meanwhile, police have arrested four people who were using current to fish in the Hadiya river in Jyamirgadhi of Jhapa.



Those arrested are San Lal Rajbansi,19, Bajol Tudu,22, Uttam Rajbansi,31, and Sunaula Rajbansi,25, of Jyamirgadhi-2, police said.



Legal action has been initiated against the accused who were arrested in possession of battery and wires used to supply electricity to the river water for fishing.
