In the final board on Sunday, Makhan beat Far-western Region 4-0 points to add full points in their account. Sajan Pandey defeated Takendra Raj Pathak, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha ousted Keshav Prasad Gautam, Sujendra Prasad Shrestha beat Dirgharaj Joshi and Sitaram Agrawal saw off Basanta Rawal to clean sweep the tourney.
Kantipur Chess Club finished second with 10 points and 19.5 game points. Kantipur lost 1.5-2.5 points in the final board against Friends of Nation Club. Nabin Tandukar, Manish Hamal and Uttamraj Thapa of Kantipur shared points with Ganeshman Duwal, Balaram Napit and Niranjan Prajapati while Rajan Chhetri lost to Rajendra Rijakho. Friends of Nation secured third position with 10 points and 18.5 game points.

The top three teams bagged a purse of Rs 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 respectively. Likewise, the best players of the boards Surbir Lama of Machhindra Club, Wilamlal Shrestha of Himlalayan Chess Club and Niranajan Prajapati of Friends of Nation Club and Sujendra Prasad Shrestha of Makhan each bagged a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each. Raj Kumar Mahato of Chetansheel Samaj and Ganeshman Duwal of Friends of Nation won best unrated and veteran prize worth cash prize of Rs 2,000 each.
The winning teams and the players were presented with the cash prize, trophies and certificates by Nepal Chess Association president Rajesh Hari Joshi. The tournament was organized by Himalayan Chess Club, Lalitpur.
Abubdo arriving for FIDE Arbiter seminar
Meanwhile, Asian Chess Federation (ACF) vice-president Castro Abubdo is arriving in Kathmandu on Monday to conduct a FIDE Arbiter seminar.
The four-day-long seminar will be held in Dhulikhel from Sept 14-17. Altogether, 20 arbiters from Nepal and India will be participating there. The successful arbiters will be designated FIDE Arbiter.
