Maheshwori, 40, had filed a divorce case at the court on July 25, 2009. She has been living in Canada for two years. [break]
Married to Biren 11 years ago, Maheshwari has also been granted custody of their two daughters. Though she has not claimed share of Biren´s properties, the court ruled that her daughters could bid for it once they become adult.
According to Maheshwari´s lawyer Arun Khanal, Biren, 41, did not defend himself in the case.
After surrendering to police, Biren had apologized to Maheshwari and promised cooperation in divorce through a couple of letters, which were included as supporting documents, in the latter´s plea in the court.
Biren had brutally murdered 19-year-old Khyati, the single daughter of his former tenant, on June 5, 2009, following her kidnapping. Biren is now in judicial custody.
