Five people injured

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: Five people were injured in a 6.0 Richter scale earthquake with its epicenter 100 kilometers away from Dolakha district bordering the Tibet Autonomous Region of China on Friday night.



According to the Nepal Police (NP), the three people were injured as they jumped from the window of their house following the tremor. Babulal Shrestha, 50, was admitted to Dhulikhel Hospital last night after he was injured in an attempt to escape from the window of his house in Sindhupalchowk. [break]



Similarly, Sanjeev Bhattarai, 25, temporarily living in Sano Kharibot and Subasg Rai, 16, of Sinamangal were injured in their bid to run to the safety. A prisoner was injured as they ran around in panic inside the Central Jail, Sundhara.



A three storey house of Man Bahadur Bharati was destroyed in the quake, said the NP spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nawa Raj Silwal. Property worth Rs 400,000 was destroyed in the incident, whereas 10 people were displaced, he added.
