CHITWAN, April 8: Five people died and nine others were injured when a truck fell into the Trishuli River at Tumlingtar of Chitwan district Thursday morning.
The truck with registration number Lu. 1 Kha 5058 coming towards Narayangadh from Kathmandu fell down the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The accident occurred at 4 a.m., according to the Chitwan District Police Office.[break]
The name and address of one of the deceased has been ascertained. He is Kailas Paththarkoti of Gajahada-2, Kapilbastu district. Paththarkoti died while undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. Four people had died on the spot and their names and addresses have not been established.
Similarly, 25-year-old Anarkali Paththarkoti, eight-year-old Rajan Paththarkoti, 55-year-old Surati Paththarkoti and ten-year-old Samjhana Paththarkoti of Gajahada-2, Kapilbastu district, have been injured in the accident.
One among the injured is in critical condition, police said. They are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur.
