At a program held recently at the Pasang Lhamu Nicole Nikki Hospital in Lukla to felicitate Scheidegger who arrived in Lukla as his final destination of the marathon, he expressed commitment to visit Nepal again.
He had begun the marathon in September from Pakistan. He said the love, cooperation and respect Nepalis showed to him during the marathon touched him deeply.
“I am inspired to visit Nepal again as I found Nepalis more cooperative than people in other countries,” the 36-year-old said. He said he began the marathon because of his interest to trek along high Himalayas and his will to support the hospital.
Scheidegger who began his marathon career in 2001 is a renowned social worker in his home country.
Hospital administration chief Kaji Sherpa said Scheideger has provided 100,000 Swiss frank, which he raised during the marathon, to the hospital.
The program was attended by his family members, a few Swiss nationals, locals and representatives of local organizations.
